Salem Man Claims $617,752 Jackpot at Spirit Mountain Casino
Progressive Payout on $1 Slot is Second Biggest of 2005 for Grand Ronde casino
A Salem man, who wished to remain unidentified, won a progressive jackpot worth $617,752 on Sunday, Dec. 4th while playing a $1 slot machine. The jackpot was the second biggest awarded this year at Spirit Mountain; only exceeded by a world record $4.1 million nickel-slot jackpot claimed by a Portland woman in March.
The man who won over the weekend is a regular guest who was playing the popular Wheel of Fortune" slot machine, and comes on the heels of a $500,000 jackpot won by a Portland woman in September. This particular Wheel of Fortune machine is one of several slots connected to a regional progressive jackpot.
Over the past 13 months, Spirit Mountain has presented five jackpots of $500,000 or more, including a $607,992 cash prize to a guest in February. The Western Oregon casino also has the distinction of having more lucky car winners (averaging a winner every 15 days) than any other casino West of the Mississippi, with the latest coming on Nov. 26th when Verenia Bartholomew, of Salem, won a 2006 Scion.
